A beautiful aeroplane to fly and a piece of history. It is a genuine historic 'War Bird'.
Up to 3 photos are disaplayed for basic listings.
This machine is presented by a private vendor in New Zealand.
This Ryan STM first flew in January 1941. It then spent the next year operating with the Royal Netherland Naval Air Service in Java before it was evacuated to Australia under Japanese attack. It spent the remainder of WW2 being operated by the Royal Australian Air Force. It was demobilized in 1946.

It is now estimated that only about 6 of these aeroplanes remain in the world that are in authentic condition, never been damaged and still in perfect flying condition. This one, Serial 492, S-56, A50-29, VH-AHC, ZK-ABC, has only logged 854 airframe hours and 267 engine hours in its current 84-year life.
The engine is a Menasco C4S supercharged 4 cylinder engine of 150Hp with a fixed-pitch wooden propeller. (A spare new prop is part of the deal). This is the second engine to be fitted to the aeroplane because ‘way back’ the C4S had a 500hr TBO, it is now simply "on condition".
“Charlie” (my name for him) is now certified by the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority as a Special Category -Limited (Warbird!).
To satisfy modern ATC/Airspace requirements Charlie has been fitted with Radio, Intercom, Transponder, Altitude Encoder and ELT.
Full details and more images available on enquiry.
Genuine enquirers should email me for more details of the aeroplane's history and terms of trade.
